Job Description

The Assistant Manager Business Development for Medical Business at Absa Bank Kenya PLC is responsible for achieving sustainable growth and profitability within the medical insurance sector. This involves cultivating strong relationships with intermediary partners, introducing innovative market solutions, and ensuring a superior partner experience. The role also requires adherence to regulatory standards and leveraging data-driven market insights to maximize revenue and overall business impact.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Proactively recruit and onboard credible brokers and agencies to expand the distribution network.
  2. Build and manage high-impact relationships with key brokers and independent agents, serving as the primary point of contact.
  3. Organize regular networking functions and share monthly “hit ratios” to monitor and enhance broker production trends.
  4. Lead branding and product launch initiatives within the broker channel to maximize market share.
  5. Monitor and manage sales pipelines and proposals to ensure timely execution and healthy business growth.
  6. Develop and execute revenue targets specifically for the broker distribution channel.
  7. Monitor renewal and new business reports to maximize production.
  8. Conduct market and competitive intelligence analysis to identify growth opportunities and strengthen the value proposition.
  9. Collect market ideas to lead the development of innovative medical products and digital platforms.
  10. Lead high-quality client engagement across the broker channel.
  11. Address partner or customer issues in coordination with internal teams to maintain satisfaction and loyalty.
  12. Ensure 100% adherence to regulatory and statutory requirements for intermediaries, premium collection, and marketing communications.
  13. Prepare and present regular reports on performance, including pipeline status, conversions, revenue contribution, marketing impact, and lessons learned.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in insurance, finance, or a related field.
  2. Relevant professional qualification in Insurance, such as ACII or AIIK.
  3. Computer literate with proficiency in MS Office and other office applications.
  4. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in medical insurance sales, with a proven track record of building, managing, and expanding strategic broker partnerships.
  5. Additional qualifications in sales and marketing are an advantage.
