Job Description
The Pharmaceutical Technologist at Valley Hospital will be responsible for precise prescription dispensing, offering medication guidance, assisting with pharmaceutical inventory control, and upholding professional, regulatory, and hospital standards. This role involves collaboration with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective medication use and high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately dispense prescriptions.
- Provide appropriate medication counselling to patients.
- Support pharmaceutical inventory management, including stock rotation and audits.
- Ensure compliance with professional, regulatory, and hospital standards.
- Collaborate effectively with doctors, nurses, and other multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Identify and report medication errors and adverse drug reactions in accordance with pharmacovigilance protocols.
Requirements
- Hold a Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology.
- Possess current membership with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
- Have a minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in a healthcare facility of comparable size.
- Demonstrate knowledge of pharmaceutical dispensing, inventory management, pharmacovigilance, and regulatory compliance.
- Exhibit a strong understanding of pharmaceutical regulations, professional standards, and patient safety requirements.
- Show commitment to confidentiality, ethical practice, and continuous professional development.
- Be proficient in using relevant software and IT systems.
