Job Description
The Business Development Manager, reporting to the Head of Sales – Retail, is responsible for driving revenue growth by distributing retail life insurance products through various alternative channels, including banks, SACCOs, microfinance institutions, brokers, and independent agents. The role focuses on developing and implementing strategies to maximize retail life business acquisition from these key partners, ensuring a robust and expanding distribution network.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, engage, and onboard strategic partners such as cooperatives, banks, MFIs, brokers, and independent agents.
- Negotiate and manage contracts with partners.
- Conduct regular reviews with key partners to ensure mutual value creation.
- Review and recommend sponsorships.
- Provide recommendations for enhancing and growing partnerships based on market intelligence and collaboration.
- Build and maintain a professionally trained salesforce aligned with channel manpower targets.
- Oversee sales team productivity to meet and exceed retail life targets.
- Participate in target development.
- Actively participate in the recruitment and training of assistant regional managers, alternative channels team leaders, and sales officers.
- Monitor and optimize channel performance through market intelligence and continuous engagement with partners.
- Provide input to product development based on partner needs.
- Educate and train partners (cooperatives, banks, MFIs, brokers, and independent agents) to enhance their retail life product knowledge through morning meetings and other organized sessions.
- Provide sales reports, partner impact assessments, and identify risk areas.
- Ensure the sales team strictly adheres to all company regulations, standards, practices, internal sales processes, and relevant external legislation regarding compliance requirements.
- Manage performance incentives.
- Approve expenses.
Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in a related field such as Commerce, Insurance, or Economics.
- Possess a Certificate of Proficiency.
- Have a Diploma in Insurance or LOMA.
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, with at least 4 years in a supervisory capacity.
