About the Company

CIC Insurance Group Plc is a Kenyan insurance company established in 1968. Based in Nairobi, it offers a comprehensive range of insurance and financial services.

Job Description

The Assistant Business Development Manager, reporting to the Business Development Manager-Partnerships, is responsible for driving the growth of CIC Asset Management Limited's retail and institutional segments. This involves leveraging non-tied distribution channels, specifically Independent Financial Advisors (SAO, ME & OLA) and other third-party agents. A key aspect of the role is ensuring the effective onboarding, comprehensive training, and performance tracking of these partners to enhance their overall contribution to the company's total Assets Under Management.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead the identification, recruitment, vetting, and onboarding of Independent Financial Advisors (SAO, ME & OLAs), internal agents, and other third-party distribution partners to expand the retail network.
  2. Achieve sustained growth in Assets Under Management (AUM) and improve client and business retention from the SAO, ME & OLA network. This involves segmenting advisors by productivity, addressing performance gaps through targeted support, and strengthening advisor practices to reduce client attrition.
  3. Collaborate with Compliance and Risk teams to ensure all agents adhere to regulatory guidelines and internal policies, including timely licensing and renewal with the Capital Markets Authority (CMA).
  4. Design and deliver continuous training programs covering products, processes, compliance, and sales techniques to enhance advisor knowledge, confidence, and sales effectiveness.
  5. Coordinate with marketing and digital teams to distribute customized marketing materials, digital content, pitch decks, and sales kits for various audiences.
  6. Work with operations and finance teams to facilitate accurate and timely calculation, reconciliation, and payment of commissions to SAO, ME & OLAs.
  7. Provide logistical and presentation support to SAO, ME & OLAs, including preparing customized decks and data insights for client meetings and forums.
  8. Monitor regional SAO, ME & OLA penetration and retail uptake trends, developing market activation strategies for underrepresented counties or customer segments.
  9. Collaborate with business development, product, and marketing teams to plan and execute thematic campaigns, incentive programs, and client acquisition drives through the SAO, ME & OLA network.
  10. Champion the adoption of CICAM digital tools and platforms (e.g., CIC Invest App, Web Portal, reporting dashboards) by agents to improve efficiency, transparency, and client servicing.
  11. Build and maintain strong relationships with SAO, ME & OLAs, providing regular updates, resolving operational issues, and gathering market feedback to enhance their experience.
  12. Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as SAO, ME & OLA sales performance, activity levels, campaign outcomes, and commission trends for internal business reviews and strategy alignment.
  13. Support the planning and execution of SAO, ME & OLA forums, recognition events, product launches, and webinars to deepen engagement and motivation within the agent ecosystem.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Actuarial science, or a related field.
  2. Master’s degree or professional certification (ICFA, CISI) is an advantage.
  3. At least 5 years of experience in business development, financial services, fintech partnerships, or distribution management.
  4. Proven track record of building and growing B2B2C partnerships or sales networks within financial services.
