Risk & Compliance Officer

SMEP Microfinance Bank Limited is a public limited company licensed under the microfinance Act to offer banking services, focusing on Group, Retail, Church banking, Asset financing, and microfinance. Their vision is to be a dynamic Christian provider of financial solutions.

The Risk & Compliance Officer will report to the Manager - Risk & Compliance and is responsible for ensuring that all material risks are identified, assessed, monitored, and reported. This role aligns with the Bank’s mission, regulatory requirements, and approved Risk Appetite Statement, contributing to a robust risk management framework.

1. Compile and update the corporate risk register, enterprise risk management policies, and tools.
2. Create risk awareness across the institution through training and sharing learning materials.
3. Prepare various reports on Key Risk Indicators as guided by the Manager – Risk & Compliance.
4. Review and provide input for Policy and Procedure Manuals, conducting annual policy reviews and quarterly procedure reviews.
5. Perform risk assessments for new processes, products, changes in processes/procedures, MOUs, Partnership Agreements, and new products.
6. Provide data analysis and analytical support to the Risk Management team.
7. Identify, monitor, and propose risk mitigating activities for the loan portfolio on a monthly basis.
8. Conduct Risk and Control Assessments for all business processes, units, departments, and new products.
9. Manage loss incidents and data for fraud cases.
10. Follow up and ensure closure of internal audit and inspection (CBK) findings with Branches and departments.

1. Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, Finance, or Business Administration.
2. Must have acquired professional certification in CPA, ACCA, or CIFA.
3. Proficiency in MS Office suite.
4. Previous experience with T24 Banking system is an added advantage.
5. Must be a practicing Christian who lives and upholds Christian values, with a passion to serve.
6. At least 3 years’ work experience in a financial institution.
7. Good interpersonal and communication skills.
8. Excellent writing and presentation skills.
9. Flexible and willing to travel across the country at short notice.
10. Self-driven, results-oriented individual with a positive outlook.
11. Able to get on with others and be a team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
