Job Description
The Business Acquisition Specialist, reporting to the Underwriting Manager, is responsible for facilitating the acquisition and integration of Group Life business. This involves meticulously preparing quotations according to approved pricing, performing necessary Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) verifications, establishing comprehensive scheme records, and ensuring a complete and efficient transition of new business to the Underwriting Manager. The specialist also contributes to process improvements and maintains accurate records related to quotations and onboarding.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and review quotation requests to confirm all necessary member data, benefits, and supporting information are provided.
- Prepare accurate Group Life quotations within agreed turnaround times.
- Ensure quotations comply with approved products, rates, pricing tools, underwriting guidelines, and authority limits.
- Verify all quotation calculations, benefits, commissions, taxes, and other applicable charges before release.
- Escalate non-standard benefits, pricing exceptions, and complex risks to the appropriate underwriter or manager.
- Register and track quotation requests, revisions, outcomes, and conversion status.
- Review onboarding documents, including accepted quotations, proposal forms, member schedules, premium evidence, and intermediary documents.
- Perform KYC, AML, and sanctions screening, escalating any incomplete or adverse findings.
- Follow up on outstanding onboarding requirements before handing over the scheme for underwriting.
- Create the scheme folder in SharePoint and upload all required documents using approved naming and filing standards.
- Prepare a complete onboarding pack and hand over the scheme to the Underwriting Manager for allocation.
- Prepare reports on quotations, turnaround times, conversion rates, production, acquisition pipeline, onboarding status, and KYC/AML compliance.
- Maintain accurate records of pending quotations, incomplete onboarding requirements, and ageing items.
- Support process improvement, quotation automation, and enhancement of acquisition and onboarding controls.
- Ensure the confidentiality of member, salary, pricing, and other sensitive information.
Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, BCOM Insurance, Statistics, or a related business field.
- Have made progress in a Diploma in Insurance.
- Possess 4 years of relevant work experience in Group Life Underwriting or a similar role.
- Demonstrate good knowledge of group underwriting principles.
- Exhibit strong analytical skills.
- Pay close attention to detail.
- Be technology-oriented with an interest in emerging technologies like AI and ML.
