Trainer – Counseling Psychology

KCA University is an educational institution founded in 1989, located in Nairobi, Kenya, specializing in education and training.

The Trainer will be responsible for delivering engaging training sessions in Counseling Psychology, fostering learner growth, and actively participating in the enhancement of KCA University's professional and technical education offerings. This includes developing and implementing academic policies, creating learning materials, and conducting research to inform curriculum development.

1. Deliver and facilitate learning through various methods such as trainings, seminars, workshops, and tutorials.
2. Participate in the creation, administration, and grading of examinations, practical tasks, assignments, and continuous assessment tests.
3. Contribute to the development and implementation of academic policies, guidelines, objectives, and functions aligned with the Institute's vision.
4. Assist in developing learning materials, preparing schemes of work, and maintaining records to track student progress, achievement, and attendance.
5. Conduct research to support the development and review of curriculum and validate learning resources.
6. Aid in the requisition and management of inventories, realia, tools, and equipment used for learning.
7. Provide guidance, advice, and feedback to trainees to support their professional advancement and refer them to support services when necessary.
8. Participate in supervising and assisting students with their practical work.
9. Contribute to and participate in departmental seminars to share research outcomes and build interdisciplinary collaboration.
10. Foster trainees' creativity and innovation through active involvement in contests, trade fairs, and projects.
11. Establish industry linkages to facilitate experiential learning, training excursions, and attachments.
12. Contribute to departmental, institute, and University-wide meetings, working groups, or committees as requested.
13. Undertake continuous professional development and participate in staff development and training activities required by regulators to enhance skills.
14. Maintain accurate records of students’ examinations, assignments, practical tasks, and continuous assessment tests, ensuring timely entry into the examination records management system.
15. Perform any other duties as assigned.

1. Bachelor’s degree in Counseling Psychology or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
2. Registered Trainer with the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA).
3. At least two (2) years of teaching experience at a tertiary level or three (3) years of industry-based experience.
4. Certificate of an approved Trainer of Trainers course.
5. Professional qualification or affiliation with a professional association is an added advantage.
