Trainer – Criminology & Criminal Justice System

KCA University is an educational institution founded in 1989 and located in Nairobi, Kenya. It offers professional and technical training programmes.

This role involves facilitating training in Criminology & Criminal Justice System, fostering learner development, and actively contributing to the ongoing enhancement of KCA University's professional and technical training programs.

1. Facilitate learning through trainings, seminars, workshops, tutorials, and other assigned learning tasks.
2. Participate in the development, administration, and marking of exams, practical tasks, assignments, and continuous assessment tests.
3. Contribute to the development and implementation of academic policies, guiding principles, objectives, and functions in line with the Institute's vision.
4. Assist in creating learning materials, preparing schemes of work, and maintaining records to monitor student progress, achievement, and attendance.
5. Conduct research to inform curriculum development/review and validate learning resources.
6. Support the requisition and management of inventories, realia, tools, and equipment used as learning resources.
7. Provide advice, guidance, and feedback to trainees to support their professional progress and refer students to appropriate support services.
8. Participate in supervising and assisting students with their practical work.
9. Contribute to and participate in departmental seminars aimed at sharing research outcomes and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration.
10. Nurture trainees’ creativity and innovation through active involvement in contests, trade fairs, and projects.
11. Establish industry linkages to support experiential learning, training excursions, and attachments.
12. Contribute to departmental, Institute, and/or University-wide meetings, working groups, or committees as requested.
13. Undertake continuous professional development and participate in staff development and other training activities required by regulators.
14. Maintain accurate records of students’ examinations, assignments, practical tasks, and continuous assessment tests, ensuring timely entry into the examination records management system.
15. Perform any other duties as assigned.

1. Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Criminology & Criminal Justice System or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
2. Be a Registered Trainer with the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA).
3. Possess at least two (2) years of teaching experience at a tertiary level or three (3) years of industry-based experience.
4. Have a Certificate of an approved Trainer of Trainers course.
5. A professional qualification or affiliation with a professional association is an added advantage.

9. Show strong time management skills and attention to detail.
