Job Description

This role involves assisting the Claims Manager in overseeing the effective and efficient operational performance of the Claims department, ensuring all activities align with the company's established policies and practices. Key aspects of the role include coordinating claims processing, ensuring compliance with policy scopes, setting service level benchmarks, managing financial reserves for claims, and overseeing service provider relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Coordinate and maintain expeditious and efficient processing of claims.
  2. Ensure that all claims fall within the scope of their respective insurance policies.
  3. Set and regularly review service level benchmarks in line with industry practices.
  4. Ensure the company maintains adequate reserves for all claims and monitor their utilization, initiating remedial actions as necessary.
  5. Ensure efficient identification, appointment, and management of service providers, adhering to all service level agreements.
  6. Notify underwriters of any adverse claims or anomalies to assist in continuous risk improvement.
  7. Prepare periodical claims reports, including weekly claims statistics and other management reports.
  8. Monitor and review departmental performance, including appraising, training, and developing staff.
  9. Ensure the recruitment and retention of suitable staff and oversee continuous training for improved performance and career growth.
  10. Monitor all fraudulent cases and close potential loopholes.
  11. Maintain discipline within the department.
  12. Facilitate salvage disposal through E-Bidding.
  13. Prepare and submit monthly regulatory reports.
  14. Attend meetings for dispute resolution.
  15. Review the performance of service providers.
  16. Review and process non-motor claims.
  17. Review and prepare Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  18. Act as the data protection champion for the claims department.
  19. Review staff performance.
  20. Ensure optimal third-party recoveries.
  21. Evaluate claim forms periodically.
  22. Review and evaluate claim documents.
  23. Perform any other duties assigned by the Claims Manager that are pertinent to the Claims Department.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Insurance, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
  2. Diploma in Insurance, AIIK, or CII.
  3. At least 7 years of working experience in a Claims Department, with a minimum of two years in a similar role.
  4. Strong organizational, analytical skills, and an eye for detail, particularly in fraud detection.
  5. Demonstrated integrity and professional competence, reflected in work performance and results.
  6. Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
  7. Must be a team player.
  8. Demonstrated leadership skills.
