SBM Bank (Kenya) Limited is a banking and financial services institution founded in 1973, operating in Nairobi, Kenya.

The intern will provide crucial operational and project support to the Digital Development & Channels team, enhancing first-level support coverage. This role offers a valuable opportunity to gain practical experience in enterprise digital banking applications, system integrations, application testing, and IT operations. 1. Provide initial support for digital banking applications and channels.
2. Monitor digital applications and help identify application-related issues.
3. Conduct initial investigation and troubleshooting for reported incidents.
4. Review application logs and basic system information to pinpoint potential problems.
5. Record, track, and follow up on incidents until resolution or escalation.
6. Escalate unresolved technical issues to relevant development, infrastructure, network, security, or vendor teams.
7. Perform basic application health checks and service availability verifications.
8. Support daily operational activities for digital channels.
9. Assist in monitoring digital transactions and detecting unusual failures or service interruptions.
10. Support the Digital Channels and Developments team in ongoing projects and initiatives.
11. Assist with application testing, including functional, regression, and UAT activities.
12. Prepare and execute basic test cases based on defined requirements.
13. Document test results and report identified defects to the appropriate teams.
14. Assist with API testing and validation using tools like Postman.
15. Support project teams during implementation, deployment, and post-deployment validation.
16. Assist in preparing project documentation, implementation checklists, and status updates.
17. Participate in project meetings and follow up on assigned technical and operational actions.
18. Assist with data validation and basic SQL queries when necessary.
19. Help monitor application interfaces and integrations with internal and external systems.
20. Support investigation of API, connectivity, and integration-related issues.
21. Review application logs to identify common error patterns.
22. Assist in validating application connectivity to dependent systems.
23. Support routine checks of application services and integrations.
24. Assist senior team members in troubleshooting production and UAT issues.
25. Maintain records of recurring issues and their resolutions.
26. Maintain application support and operational documentation.
27. Document common issues, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions.
28. Assist in preparing user guides, technical checklists, and support procedures.
29. Maintain project and testing documentation.
30. Assist in maintaining a knowledge base for first-level application support.
31. Ensure support activities and identified issues are properly documented.

1. Bachelor’s degree in IT or Computer Science from a reputable university.
2. Basic to intermediate knowledge of Java programming and object-oriented programming concepts.
3. Basic knowledge of Python and scripting for automation or data processing.
4. Good understanding of SQL and relational databases, including Oracle Database and MySQL.
5. Ability to write SELECT, JOIN, INSERT, UPDATE, and basic analytical queries.
6. Basic understanding of database tables, indexes, views, and stored procedures.
7. Basic understanding of REST APIs, JSON, HTTP/HTTPS, request/response structures, and API integration.
8. Familiarity with API testing tools such as Postman.
9. Knowledge of JavaScript and basic web application development.
10. Knowledge of front-end technologies including HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, and Angular.
11. Basic understanding of Java application servers and web containers, such as Apache Tomcat and Oracle WebLogic Server.
12. Basic understanding of application deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting in application server environments.
13. Familiarity with Linux/Unix and Windows operating systems and basic command-line operations.
14. Basic understanding of application logs and ability to perform initial troubleshooting based on log messages.
15. Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC), testing, UAT, defect management, and deployment processes.
16. Basic understanding of system integration, APIs, middleware, and communication between enterprise applications.
17. Good analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate technical issues systematically.
18. Good communication skills and ability to work with developers, infrastructure teams, vendors, and business users.
19. Willingness to learn enterprise technologies and gain practical experience in Digital Banking, Application Development, Integration, and Production Support.
20. Ability to document technical findings, test results, issues, and troubleshooting steps clearly.
