Job Description
The Data Engineer will play a crucial role in the Data Science & Analytics team, responsible for the entire data lifecycle. This involves designing and documenting robust data models, architecting scalable distributed systems, and developing reliable data pipelines to transform and integrate various data sources. The role also includes architecting efficient data stores and working closely with data science teams to ensure the development of appropriate and effective data solutions that meet business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in quality control for quantitative and qualitative research projects.
- Design, build, and maintain data processing pipelines using cloud technologies like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Collaborate with business analysts to understand and translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Develop and execute quality assurance and test scripts for data solutions.
- Construct data pipelines for survey and voter file data.
- Design and build data assets within cloud solutions or Oracle ODI.
- Develop internal tools to streamline complex task flows for the team.
- Design schemas, data models, and overall data architecture for cloud environments.
- Implement data flow scripts using Unix and other scripting languages.
- Create scripts and workflows to automate repetitive data processing tasks.
- Work with the data team to identify opportunities for task automation and tool development.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Actuarial Science, Information Systems, Economics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a data engineer role or a similar position.
- Proficiency in coding languages such as Python.
- Strong experience and knowledge of SQL query language.
- Understanding of star schemas and data warehouse concepts.
- Knowledge of AWS/Azure tools and technologies.
- Experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools like Airflow.
- Ability to work effectively across regional teams with strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Proactive approach to work, managing personal and team deliverables to meet deadlines.
- Aptitude for identifying solutions and simplifying complex problems.
- Ability to break down complex problems into manageable solutions.
- Beneficial: Experience with ETL and ELT processes, including both batch and microservices-led approaches.
