Job Description
The A/V Engineering & Production Coordinator at the U.S. Embassy in Kenya is responsible for the technical oversight and execution of audiovisual (AV) and multimedia programs for ICASS subscribers. This role involves independently planning, producing, and executing complex live, hybrid, and virtual events, while ensuring the flawless technical operation of all AV systems. The incumbent will administer, set up, operate, and maintain a wide range of equipment, including cameras, microphones, speakers, sound mixers, lighting, projectors, interactive whiteboards, digital signage, and IPTV systems. The position also involves managing multimedia systems, supporting internal communications, coordinating event AV, providing training, and assisting with projects and administrative tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the Mission’s multimedia, TV, and IPTV systems, ensuring reliable operation and compliance with Department standards.
- Administer internal digital signage, multimedia, TV, and IPTV systems, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and supporting new installations or channels for internal communications.
- Maintain audiovisual infrastructure documentation such as system layouts, connectivity maps, and technical diagrams.
- Perform installation, configuration, commissioning, and complex integration of AV systems, including conference rooms, DVC setups, IPTV components, cabling, and related infrastructure.
- Provide technical expertise for recommending AV equipment procurement, lifecycle management, and system upgrades, evaluating vendor solutions and advising on appropriate technologies and budget requirements.
- Oversee the creation and delivery of visual and multimedia content for internal Embassy audiences through channels like digital signage, IPTV systems, and internal newsletters.
- Produce various multimedia content, including videos, digital signage channels, podcasts, training materials, and content for internal events.
- Provide advanced AV technical support and consultation for internal events, covering routine setup, troubleshooting, and complex event coordination for town halls, meetings, webinars, and ceremonies.
- Oversee end-to-end AV requirements for events, including pre-event planning, system testing, scheduling, and live execution across multiple simultaneous events.
- Support virtual and hybrid meeting environments using DOS-approved platforms, including configuration, user support, and facilitation.
- Develop professional skills and stay updated on new technology, cross-training backups on core functions.
- Apply standards in developing and documenting solutions, maintaining documentation on workstation and network resources.
- Manage or participate in projects, executing tasks under project managers' guidance.
- Provide and manage budget estimates, progress updates, timelines, resources, and documentation for projects.
- Prioritize and coordinate project management activities across missions and track milestones.
- Assist other Diplomatic Technology teams to enable technology use as a strategic diplomatic instrument.
- Evaluate solutions to improve customer processes and identify opportunities for technology-driven efficiency and innovation.
Requirements
- Ability to obtain and hold a security clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree in audiovisual production, multimedia, communications, audio engineering, information technology, or a closely related field.
