Job Description

The Aircraft Maintenance Technician is responsible for conducting all assigned inspection, repair, modification, rectification, replacement, overhaul, and systems functional test tasks during aircraft maintenance. This role covers all Kenya Airways fleet and third-party operators, requiring certification in line with KCAA regulations and company standard procedures. The technician aims to optimize costs for the business while maintaining high schedule integrity.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Perform repair, modification, rectification, replacement, overhaul, and functional test tasks on aircraft systems within planned turnaround times, certifying work according to KCAA regulations and company standards.
  2. Troubleshoot aircraft defects following maintenance manuals.
  3. Conduct aircraft inspections and predictive maintenance to assess airworthiness.
  4. Accurately complete all required aircraft maintenance documentation.
  5. Operate authorized maintenance equipment.
  6. Adhere to company safety, health, and environment policies, report incidents, and comply with 5S requirements to ensure quality and safety records.
  7. Execute security checks as per engineering security document annex 8 to uphold security standards.

Requirements

  1. Basic knowledge of aviation legislation and regulations.
  2. Understanding of industrial safety standards.
  3. Proficiency in using appropriate equipment, technology, and IT systems for daily tasks.
  4. Knowledge of material specifications (MSDS).
  5. Ability to communicate effectively with internal customers to exchange information on assigned duties.
  6. Capability for daily planning of allocated tasks.
  7. Demonstrated understanding and practical application of Health and Safety/risk assessments.
  8. Ability to use appropriate maintenance data.
  9. Basic capability in standard practices relevant to the work area.
  10. Experience in troubleshooting at a task level in accordance with standard operating procedures, with the ability to escalate issues as needed.
  11. Ability to make decisions regarding task requirements in line with standard operating procedures.
  12. Completed a recognized apprenticeship or holds a relevant KNEC Engineering Diploma or equivalent from a recognized institution.
  13. KCSE aggregate grade C+ with C+ in Mathematics, English, and Physics.
  14. Computer literacy.
  15. 3 years of aircraft maintenance experience or completion of a 2-year apprentice program.
