Crane Operator

Mabati Rolling Mills Limited (MRM) is a member of the Safal Group, a manufacturing company founded in 1962.

The Crane Operator will be responsible for safely and efficiently conducting crane operations, ensuring equipment is maintained in optimal condition, and strictly following safety protocols to facilitate smooth material movement and maintain operational continuity within the production, maintenance, and dispatch processes.

1. Safely and efficiently operate cranes for production, dispatch, and maintenance tasks.
2. Perform daily crane inspections and document findings to ensure full safety compliance.
3. Implement safe load-handling techniques to prevent injuries, equipment damage, and material deformation.
4. Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free workspace according to 6K housekeeping standards.
5. Secure coils using Chooks with felt pads and correctly handle lifting accessories to maintain material quality.
6. Promptly report crane malfunctions to minimize downtime and facilitate timely repairs.
7. Assist maintenance teams with troubleshooting to improve equipment reliability.
8. Foster a strong safety culture by reporting near misses and safety observations.
9. Execute additional duties as assigned by management to support continuous improvement initiatives.

1. Possess a Craft Certificate in lifting equipment.
2. Basic Engineering trade training, computer literacy, and a valid Crane Operator Certificate from a recognized institution are advantageous.
3. A minimum of 3 years of general work experience is required.
4. At least 2 years of experience operating cranes, ideally in mining, manufacturing, or similar industries.
5. Experience in manufacturing or engineering environments is a plus.
6. Demonstrate achievement orientation, proactivity, strong problem-solving, and creativity skills.
7. Be safety-conscious with excellent attention to detail.
8. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
9. Good communication skills in both English and Swahili.
10. Be conscientious, punctual, and hardworking.
