Job Description
Valley Hospital, a prominent Level 4 hospital in Nakuru City providing both inpatient and outpatient services, is seeking a Resident Medical Officer (RMO) for its Clinical Services Department. This position involves delivering consistent, high-quality medical care to patients throughout the hospital. The RMO will conduct prompt clinical assessments, initiate suitable treatments, manage emergencies, and ensure precise documentation and patient follow-up. Collaborating closely with consultants, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, the RMO is crucial for maintaining patient safety, clinical efficiency, and adherence to hospital standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct patient assessments, diagnoses, and prescribe appropriate treatment.
- Manage inpatients, ensuring timely follow-up and discharge planning.
- Provide emergency care and initial stabilization for critically ill patients.
- Participate in ward rounds, case reviews, and consultations.
- Ensure clear and accurate medical documentation and handovers.
- Adhere to infection control measures, hospital protocols, and ethical guidelines.
- Participate in Continuous Medical Education (CME) and quality improvement activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) degree.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a facility of comparable size.
- Registration and a valid practicing license with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
- Proficiency in general medical practice, including diagnosis and treatment.
- Ability to manage medical emergencies and coordinate multidisciplinary care.
- Excellent clinical documentation and communication skills.
- Strong decision-making, analytical thinking, and teamwork abilities.
- Demonstrate an ethical, compassionate, and patient-centered approach to care.
