Job Description

Valley Hospital, a prominent Level 4 hospital in Nakuru City providing both inpatient and outpatient services, is seeking a Resident Medical Officer (RMO) for its Clinical Services Department. This position involves delivering consistent, high-quality medical care to patients throughout the hospital. The RMO will conduct prompt clinical assessments, initiate suitable treatments, manage emergencies, and ensure precise documentation and patient follow-up. Collaborating closely with consultants, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, the RMO is crucial for maintaining patient safety, clinical efficiency, and adherence to hospital standards.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Conduct patient assessments, diagnoses, and prescribe appropriate treatment.
  2. Manage inpatients, ensuring timely follow-up and discharge planning.
  3. Provide emergency care and initial stabilization for critically ill patients.
  4. Participate in ward rounds, case reviews, and consultations.
  5. Ensure clear and accurate medical documentation and handovers.
  6. Adhere to infection control measures, hospital protocols, and ethical guidelines.
  7. Participate in Continuous Medical Education (CME) and quality improvement activities.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) degree.
  2. Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a facility of comparable size.
  3. Registration and a valid practicing license with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
  4. Proficiency in general medical practice, including diagnosis and treatment.
  5. Ability to manage medical emergencies and coordinate multidisciplinary care.
  6. Excellent clinical documentation and communication skills.
  7. Strong decision-making, analytical thinking, and teamwork abilities.
  8. Demonstrate an ethical, compassionate, and patient-centered approach to care.
