This role involves supporting the training of competent healthcare professionals. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and examining students in both classroom and clinical settings, preparing comprehensive schemes of work and lesson plans, and assisting in the planning and execution of Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCE). The lecturer will also maintain and develop their areas of expertise, including participation in clinical activities under the guidance of academic and clinical coordinators. Key duties include ensuring major Nursing Council/TVET-CDACC assessments for students in clinical placements are completed and records are well-kept, evaluating students during their attachment programs, and collaborating with the Principal to develop and review nurse training curricula. Additionally, the role supports the selection, admission, and orientation of new students to the school.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach and examine students in classroom and clinical areas to evaluate their performance.
- Prepare a scheme of work and lesson plans, submitting a copy to the Deputy Principal before the course begins.
- Support the planning and conduct of Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCE).
- Maintain and develop areas of expertise, including participation in clinical activity under the guidance of the academic officer and clinical coordinator.
- Ensure major Nursing Council/TVET-CDACC assessments for students within clinical placements are completed and records are properly maintained.
- Evaluate students during their attachment program.
- Collaborate with the Principal to develop and review curriculum for nurse training programs.
- Support the selection, admission, and orientation of new students to the school.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Minimum of 5 years of classroom and clinical teaching experience at an institution of higher learning.
- CBET certification.
- Ability to teach using a variety of methods to effectively engage students in learning.
- Advanced computer skills and understanding of their application in a college setting.
- Ability to counsel and mentor students and staff.
- Capability to lead a large group of students.
- Strong prioritization skills to manage a complex workload.
