Job Description

This role involves overseeing the comprehensive administration of pension schemes, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and supporting both internal and external audits. The Senior Supervisor will be responsible for verifying and approving complex financial updates, managing high-value transactions, and preparing detailed performance and compliance reports for management and regulatory bodies. The position also entails leading stakeholder meetings and driving process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Oversee the complete administration of pension schemes, including onboarding, contributions, benefit payments, and exits.
  2. Verify and approve complex fund updates, scheme valuations, member statements, and regulatory filings.
  3. Authorize escalated withdrawal requests and high-value transactions according to the approval matrix.
  4. Monitor compliance with statutory obligations and assist with internal and external audits.
  5. Lead and coordinate trustee and member meetings, AGMs, and training sessions.
  6. Prepare and review quarterly and annual scheme performance and compliance reports for management and regulatory bodies.
  7. Provide mentorship, technical guidance, and performance oversight to junior staff and scheme supervisors.
  8. Drive innovation through the automation of operational processes and continuous improvement initiatives.
  9. Liaise with external stakeholders such as clients, intermediaries, custodians, and regulators to resolve complex scheme matters.
  10. Contribute to the preparation of scheme-specific board papers and performance dashboards for leadership review.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned by the Line Manager.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Insurance, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  2. Professional qualification in retirement benefits, insurance, marketing, or business development (e.g., FSRI, CPSP, AIIK, CPAM, CIM).
  3. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in pension administration, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or team-lead capacity.
  4. Strong understanding of the Retirement Benefits Act and the Kenyan regulatory framework.
  5. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite.
  6. Proven leadership and team management skills.
  7. Advanced technical competence in pension administration.
  8. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  9. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  10. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
  11. High level of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct.
