Job Description
Reporting to the Business Development Manager, the Business Development Officer will manage business development activities at the branch office. This role involves creating and executing initiatives to increase business impact, registering new members, and fostering strong relationships by understanding target groups' needs and offering suitable products. The officer will also handle credit functions, including receiving and appraising loan applications, monitoring loan performance, and implementing recovery measures for delinquent accounts. Operational duties include delivering quality customer service, supporting member group formation, preparing branch budgets, and processing customer transactions. Additionally, the role involves administrative tasks such as identifying member projects, conducting performance appraisals, and managing promotional communications.
Key Responsibilities
- Achieve set business growth targets for the region.
- Plan and participate in educational forums to raise awareness and convert individuals and groups into Kingdom Sacco customers.
- Mobilize deposits from members to enhance liquidity.
- Coordinate the society’s community development initiatives.
- Identify market segments, register members, and recommend outreach strategies.
- Ensure strong brand visibility for Kingdom Sacco.
- Identify and capitalize on cross-selling opportunities during customer interactions.
- Provide weekly and monthly reports on business development activities and outcomes.
- Attend and contribute to regular operations meetings, providing reports for management decision-making.
- Receive, verify, and appraise loan applications, providing recommendations to the credit department.
- Report on loan rescheduling, restructuring, and negotiation proposals from members.
- Actively monitor loan performance at the branch level and ensure adherence to repayment schedules.
- Scrutinize delinquent accounts and implement recovery measures according to Sacco procedures.
- Conduct approved member and field visits to monitor project/business performance and assess financial capacity for loan obligations.
- Deliver personalized, effective, and high-quality customer service during membership registration.
- Support members in forming groups, allocate new members, and educate them on group management benefits.
- Prepare branch budgets in line with the work plan and submit them to the Business Development Manager.
- Execute customer transactional needs, including static data changes, standing order maintenance, and exit processing.
- Respond to customer inquiries, provide solutions, or redirect queries appropriately.
- Cultivate strong member relationships by addressing needs, handling loan inquiries, and guiding them on credit products.
- Identify projects and opportunities for members, conduct due diligence, and recommend them for management consideration.
- Undertake quarterly performance appraisals with the Business Development Team leader and seek feedback.
- Plan and organize communication messages and emails for promotions, marketing, and updates to members.
- Oversee overall branch Business Development, Credit, Operation, and Administration functions.
- Perform other related activities as directed by the Business Development Manager.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or Higher Diploma in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
- Minimum of three years of progressive experience in a similar role within the financial services sector.
